Purpose To review the surgical options for lumbar spine surgery with an emphasis on understanding why different methods are used. Materials & Methods Pictorial review from cases where different approaches were used (laminectomy, foraminotomy, facetectomy, and different fusion options), and chart review of why these approaches were favored based on the clinical scenario. Results Different surgical treatment options for lumbar spine surgery will be detailed.  No specific results otherwise. Conclusion Several different surgical treatment options for lumbar spine surgery need to be understood by the radiologist.  This will help with the interpretation of both pre- and post-operative exams.
